International Women’s Day March 8th, 2023 – By: Clarita

This global holiday has celebrated women’s historical, cultural, and political achievements since 1977. Why is this important? Women have been organizing and fighting for equal rights since Emmeline Pankhurst led the Suffragette movement in the early 1900s. Women wanted the right to vote and their voices heard, so our sisters from that era paved the way for us. They marched, created political art, debated, and pushed propaganda about their agenda. More than one hundred years have passed since then, and most would agree that we have made a significant crack in the glass ceiling. We can even say, “we’ve come a long way, baby;” however, there is still a long way to go. Although the entire month of March is a celebration of women who have and are shaping world history, March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to appreciate and support the women in our lives. Do you

Love Heals – By: Clarita

When I think of heart health, I think of love. Yes, the heart is a muscle that pumps blood through your system. It carries oxygen and nutrients to your cells, tissues, and organs. Also, your heart is a barometer that tells you if you’re in danger, safe, or content. I would say your heart rules your emotions; would you agree? Can you feel the rhythm of your heart? How does it beat, forcefully or gently? Do you feel it at all? When you lay your hand on your heart, what happens? Do you feel joyful or tearful? Does any of this resonate with you? If so, you have a heart. The HeartMath Institute is a nonprofit research center that scientifically documents and teaches people how to reduce and avoid stress, the silent killer, by connecting them to their hearts via intuition and awareness. Recent studies have uncovered that the heart

WILL THIS BE YOUR YEAR?

Thousands of studies spanning five-plus decades link success directly to setting goals. Psychologist Edwin Locke concluded as much in his research dating back to 1968. And his seminal work in 1990 with Dr. Gary Lathum, “A Theory of Goal Setting and Task Performance,” spawned a movement of self-improvement through goal setting. Since then, individual and company-driven cultures have expanded the creative planning process for a desired outcome. For instance, we at Absolute Best like to create vision boards. We cut and paste pictures of things, ideas, and accomplishments that we would like to manifest throughout the coming year as a team and as individuals. Then we place our canvas boards in a conspicuous space, reminding us of our hopes and dreams. How do you set yourself up for success? Do you set goals and find that your willpower peters out before February? There is no reason to doubt yourself if

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Tips to Stay on Track The holidays can be daunting if you try to maintain and control your weight.  During this time of year, celebrations center around food, drink, and family, all of which can lead to overeating, overdrinking, and frustrations about family dilemmas. Wellness experts often suggest not stressing about confronting unavoidable distractions that prevent you from maintaining a perfect balance of health and wellness.  There are always obstacles that appear before us as we traverse the course of our lives.  The key is to keep them from steering us away from our desired goals.  If you go off track, get back on course.  There is no such thing as perfect balance; it’s always a matter of adjustment. Wellness is not about deprivation but the integration of mind, body, and spirit.  One cannot avoid family; they belong to us forever.   One cannot avoid food and drink; we need

Boo and Happy Halloween

Boo and Happy Halloween #Halloween is a fun-filled holiday for kids and adults too. However, during these festive times, we must pay attention to our body and its reaction to all the fun. For instance, do your feet hurt when you take the kids out trick-or-treating? How about your endurance? Is it hard to catch your breath while you’re walking? How quickly do you recover after you’ve sprinted up a hill? Does your heart skip a beat? Can you easily carry on a conversation as you stroll the streets of town? When you get home from a long day, do you feel exhausted and think that your kid’s Halloween candy might help boost your energy? The key to good health is moderation in all things. If you feel exhausted, in pain, crave sugar, and lack a comprehensive wellness plan in your life, here are a few tips that can quickly
